As I started writing some great tips about unique baby gifts I was as aghast at myself as to how could I skip an important thing which can be a very useful and practical gift for the parents or for those parents to be. That is why here I am going to give you step by step instructions on how to make a diaper cake.

I have listed down all the variations of a diaper cake and this may give a starting for a diaper cake. I will describe as I go about writing about the diaper cake instruction.
Material needed for making a Diaper cake
Diapers – The most basic thing required for a diaper cake and of course the quantity required will depend on the two or three major factors

If you are making diaper cake from the folded diapers then you will need much more quantity than if you are making from round ones
A square diaper will require more diapers than the round diaper cake. Of course the number will also vary based on the number of tiers that you are going to make.
A general rule of thumb is get some 60 diapers so that even if you make a three tiered cake you have sufficient numbers. Also you can get some patterned diapers to mix with the regular white ones.
Ribbon – Wide ribbon of pink color if you need it for a newborn girl and blue ribbon if you are making the cake for a new born boy.
Curling ribbon – This is for decoration and putting it around the other garnishing items for the baby.
Rubber bands – Big and small both for the diapers
Packing tape
Wooden dowel or a packing tape to make sure that middle core is attached properly.
A tray or a plate for building the cake on.
Other miscellaneous baby items like pacifiers, Special baby stickers, other baby supplies or fun items to be used as embellishments on the cake. You can get cheap diaper bags alongside this as a gift for storage.
Assembling Instructions
Start assembling the cake by first making a roll of each diaper and then putting a rubber band on each of them so that these are secured and tightly rolled . If you are using the pre folded diapers then you need not use the rubber bands.
Move from Bottom to Up
In a tiered cake make sure that you build the bottom tier first and that means using the wooden dowel of the big bottle of baby shampoo as the middle holding thing. Use the scotch tape to secure the middle thing with the diapers.
Then start putting the rolled diapers one after the other till the time the whole circumference of the bottle is covered. Put a big rubber band around this layer and tie a ribbon around it.
Next put another layer of diapers around the already existing diaper layer. Again put the bands on it or the ribbon.
Go till the third layer to make a good base for the cake.
Once you have the first tier built then put the second tier the same as the first but this item build only two layers of diapers around the wooden towel and these layers are actually using the first tier as the base.
Then build the last tier if you need to make a three tier cake and this tier will only have one layer of diapers.
Embellish the Cake
Put some curling ribbons around the cake as well some loose hanging ones from the top of the cake. Place a nice teddy bear on top of the cake. You can use some flowers also.
Add some stickers on the cake as well as use some wide ribbons to attach other gifts such as pacifiers and small things all the while making sure that you do not add too much weight .
